Contemporary with Bekah

This contemporary dance class encourages dancers to be versatile in their expressions and to be able to portray a wide array of dynamic movement styles and emotions. It focuses on spacial and body awareness, use of body weight, floor work, technique, efficiency of muscle usage, musicality and safe body alignment. We will also focus on our intention and purpose for each movement. Each student will weave their own choices into the final combination will share their personalized expression with the class.

Rhythmic Class with Upstate Tap Connection/Sam Italiano

Let's explore rhythm! This class will combine elements of body percussion and tap dance to focus on how we can use the body to hold multiple rhythms. While the individual can create poly-rhythms within itself, the most exciting element is when a whole group can become an orchestra of sorts. Get ready for some brain bustin' movement.

Jazz with Katie

Katie's jazz class is a high energy, groovy, good time! Class will integrate musicality and focus with jazz technique. We'll work through a warm up and center exercises, finishing with an upbeat combination focusing on balancing technique and style.

Alexander Technique with Naina

Alexander Technique is a gentle movement method that teaches you how to release unneeded muscular tension so that you can breathe and move with greater ease and freedom.

Isadora Duncan Technique with Elizabeth

Isadora Duncan Technique emphasizes natural, organic movements that flow outward from the heart center. Dancers use breath, gravity and momentum to build a sense of energy in line with the rhythms of nature. The technique encourages authenticity, simplicity, individual creativity, and a connection to the inner self.

STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHY PROGRAM

About the student choreography program...

Through a guided application process, young choreographers ages 15+ can submit materials to be considered for the program. Student choreographers hold rehearsals at DTG, are mentored by DTG faculty and Equinox guest artists,  have the opportunity to present their piece on the Equinox stage, and receive structured feedback on their works. Student choreographers can expect to learn more about choreographic devices to create effective dance, how to lead a rehearsal of their peers, and how to write about their process, artistic vision, and themselves as artists. The choreographers typically have 8 weeks to bring their visions to life on the Equinox stage.
